For many students, Model United Nations is a fast-growing competitive sport, but for me, it means much else. Model UN has aided me in developing as a leader, discovering the future, gaining self-confidence, and forming lifelong partnerships with people from all over the world.

I secured the ‘The Best Delegate’ position at the IMUN Online Conference that was conducted from May 1st – May 2nd of 2021. After 24 hours of intense negotiation with 120 other delegates around the world, I felt that St. Claret Pre- University College Model United Nations, SCPCMUN has aided and improved my overall self-esteem in the formation of long-term relationships and my genuine interest in politics. As a result, It improved me as a delegate. I can now talk in front of big audiences with much ease.

MUN as a whole has helped me gain trust in committees and the classroom. Although I still have several years ahead of me, I believe that having chosen to be involved in Model United Nations has been the first step in my path towards becoming a better orator for world issues, foreign relations and global politics. If it weren’t for Model United Nations, I would probably have never been so concerned with trying to solve the world’s problems as much as I am now.

I hope that one day with all my expertise and experiences I will be able to contribute more in reflecting the same standards for the upcoming SCPCMUN at St. Claret P.U. College. This will enable us to look at the big picture and be involved in the process of developing solutions that will help our community in the future.

I discovered that I enjoyed myself when I joined Model United Nations on a whim. Learning about the environment, communicating with people, and engaging in diplomatic battles over monetary policy are all things that I enjoy. Model UN has aided in the development of long-lasting partnerships as well as a genuine interest in politics.

I stood in front of a group of people expecting to be judged but what I got was a committee full of people who listened to what I had to say. These days I feel relaxed presenting at conventions and that has boosted my confidence, to be the person I wished to be and to march forward in life without fear.

At Model United Nations I learned something new about the environment and myself at each meeting. Without it, I would have taken longer to learn how to stand, to voice opinions, to deal with the elected delegates, to guide freshers, to compose, to read, to research and to study ardently and many other communicative skills.

People are the strongest part of Model United Nations. One thing is certain I did not only make new friends at MUN conferences but also improved existing relationships. They are the kinds of friends I will have for the rest of my life. We are bound by the deepest bond of mutual interests, and it astounds me that the delegates seated and arguing beside me whether they are Senators, ambassadors, or even presidents ensured that none of our differences hampered the unity.

Model United Nations has given me the most incredible gift of life: a never-ending passion and affection for what I do. I knew this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life the moment I walked into my first meeting. Model United Nations has welcomed me to a fascinating universe from which I have no desire to depart.

I hope that one day I will be able to contribute more to the big picture and the process of developing solutions that will help our community.
