Rules & Regulations

In order to maintain an atmosphere facilitative for study, the college has chalked out a code of conduct for the students. All the students are expected to follow the code strictly in the college and in the campus.

Discipline & Decorum

  • =Strict discipline and decorum are paramount on campus. PU students should serve as role models for younger students, as St. Claret accommodates students from nursery to Degree levels. Serious misconduct will result in immediate dismissal from the College.
  • =Students must greet their teachers upon first meeting them within the college premises and in public. Upon the teacher's entry into the classroom, students should stand until directed to sit or until the teacher takes their seat. During attendance roll call, each student is expected to rise and respond to their name or register number.
  • =Before the third bell rings in the morning, all students must be inside their respective classes. At the third bell, they should stand for the daily prayer song, after which classes resume.
  • = Students must be in their seats before the bell rings for class. No latecomers will be admitted, and no student is allowed to leave the classroom without the lecturer's permission or until the class is dismissed.
  • =Students are not allowed to come out of their classes or assemble in the corridors during the short break between class hours.
  • =During lectures, students must remain in their classrooms. In the absence of a teacher, class representatives should notify the class teacher for alternative arrangements. Free periods are designated for library use, not for games indoors or outdoors.

Attendance & Academic Progress

  • =The working day is of six periods which is divided into three sessions. The morning session of two periods, the forenoon session of two periods and the afternoon session of two periods.
  • =Every student has to be available from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days except on Saturdays, for various special classes and extracurricular/co-curricular activities organized by the various academies and associations of the College and for sports and games.
  • =Regular attendance is mandatory. No Student shall absent himself/herself from the classes without the prior permission of the principal.
  • =A minimum attendance of 85% is compulsory. The students with less than the required percentage will not be allowed to write the I PUC Final exam/II PUC Final Exam. Attendance will be marked at the commencement of every class. Late comers though may be permitted to attend the classes, will not be given attendance for that class.
  • =A student who is absent from classes for any hour/day or mor than a day has to write the reason for absence in the monthly planner in the Handbook where space is provided. He/She must at the end of the month get the signatures of the parent and the respective class teacher and submit it to the principal whenever called for verification.
  • =Students who miss classes on any unforeseen reason should submit to the principal the leave application form issued from the College office duly fiiled and signed by the parent/guardian within 5 working days, after the leave.
  • =Students who require leave on genuine reasons should apply to the principal for it in advance on the leave application form issued from the college office duly filled and signed by the parents/guardian. Application for leave of absence may be rejected by the Principal if he is not satisfied with its genuineness.
  • =Students who are absent from the classes for 06 working days or more at a stretch without the permission of the principal obtained in writing, will be considered to have left the college. No intimation/notice regarding such instances will be given to the parents.

Tests & Examination

  • =A Student who falls short of 85% of attendance will not be permitted to attend the following college examinations. Students who lack the required percentage of attendance at the end of the last teaching day of the college will not be allowed to appear for the final examinations.
  • =Attendance for periodic tests and examinations is compulsory. No student shall be allowed to leave the exam hall before the expiry of time. Students missing any examination for unacceptable reasons will have to pay a fine.
  • =The results of the exams with the attendance report will be given to the parents during the PT meeting, within three weeks after the exams. Parents who are absent for the PT meeting will have to collect the report card in person from the Principal.
  • =The results of the exams with the attendance report will be available on college website/college app. Parents have to login to get the details of the ward. Also it will be given to the parents during the PT meeting.
  • =There is no automatic admission to the PUE Department examinations. Students will have to fulfill all the requirements stipulated by the College and the PUE Department.
  • =Malpractices of any kind in the examinations is an offence which would lead to immediate dismissal of the concerned student from the College.

Projects & Assignments

  • =Assignments and project works are compulsory for every subject and the languages.
  • =Students must see to it that they complete the assignments and the project works on time and get the signature of the concerned teacher on submission of them.
  • =Students who fail to complete the assignments and the project work on time will not be eligible to proceed for the final examination.

Campus & Class Rooms

  • =The Campus must be kept clean at all times. Keep the beauty and the spiritual ambience of the campus. Littering and defacing the walls or desks, damaging college property etc. are strictly prohibited and are punishable individually or collectively. In addition to the punishment they will have to pay the damages.
  • =Every class under the guidance of the class representatives will be responsible for the cleanliness of their respective class room.
  • =Ragging is a cognizable offence and any attempt at any sort of ragging will result in the immediate dismissal of the persons responsible and action under G.O. Ed. 122 URC 96 dated 16.01.1997.
  • =Each class will have a Lecturer-in-charge of it. For any help – academic and nonacademic – the student and the parent/guardian should contact the lecturer in-charge designated for the class.
  • =USE OF MOBILE PHONES: By the order of the Government of Karnataka use of mobile phones by PU students in the College and in the campus is banned. Students are advised to use the Pay Phone available in the College. Mobile phones impounded from the students will be returned to them only at the end of the current academic year.
  • =Students are not allowed to carry with them or use in the campus/college any electrical or electronic gadget like CD players, digital cameras, radios, tape-records etc. without the prior permission from the principal.
  • =Students shall not stay in the campus beyond 4.30 p.m. Exception will be given only for the tuition classes and official practice classes of sports, games or college events.
